(Dan Tri) – President Nicolas Maduro has condemned the recognition of Venezuela’s self-proclaimed president by a series of European countries, and vowed to use his own life to protect his country.

Speaking at a military rally in Aragua state in northern Venezuela on February 4, President Nicolas Maduro said he was the target of a plot from `foreign` powers to overthrow the revolution he founded.
“I, Nicolas Maduro Moros, legitimate and constitutionally (elected) president of Venezuela, swear that… I will use my life to defend my Venezuelan homeland,” Mr. Maduro declared.
“We will never surrender our country… The people (of Venezuela) will never surrender,” President Maduro emphasized.
Speaking after a series of European countries, including Britain, Germany, Portugal and Spain, announced they would support opposition leader Juan Guaido – who declared himself interim president of Venezuela on May 23.
`Together with the people, I will continue to hold power for the six-year term that I have the right to lead,` Mr. Maduro said.
The current Venezuelan president also criticized Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, one of the first leaders to announce he would oppose the Maduro government.

President Maduro yesterday continued to accuse his US counterpart Donald Trump of being obsessed with invading Venezuela.

Mr. Maduro also directed his attack at the opposition, criticizing them for `selling their souls to the devil`.

Yesterday 10 European countries simultaneously recognized Venezuela’s self-proclaimed president Juan Guaido.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov yesterday emphasized that solving Venezuela’s domestic political problems must be done by Venezuelans, not outside countries.
