For customers in Indonesia, the monthly battery rental fee is 1.5 million rupees (equivalent to 2.37 million VND) for a distance of less than 3,000 km.
Meanwhile, in Vietnam, the selling price for the VF e34 without battery is 710 million VND, with a battery subscription cost of 657 thousand VND for every 500km or 1.8 million VND for unlimited kilometer usage.

VinFast also has high expectations for the VF 8 SUV, having exported this model to North America in 2022 – 2023. The listed price in the US for the VF 8 is 37,300 USD for the Eco version and 44,300 USD for the Plus version, respectively (
This applies to both VF8 Eco (1.09 billion VND) and VF 8 Plus (1.26 billion VND).
This price difference between the domestic and international markets for the same option (buying the car without battery and monthly battery subscription) highlights the problem that VinFast car prices are currently higher in the domestic market.
The fact that VinFast’s electric vehicle selling price in Vietnam is higher than in Indonesia and the US can be mainly explained through preferential policies for electric vehicles in both countries.
Accordingly, Indonesia and the US both apply `dual policies` to support electric vehicles, including financial support for buyers and tax incentives for manufacturers.
The Indonesian government, in the current fiscal year, provides subsidies for up to 50,000 electric vehicles, with subsidies of up to 80 million rupees (about 5,200 USD) per pure electric vehicle and 40 million rupees (about 2,600 USD)
At the same time, from February 20, Indonesia abolished the 11% special consumption tax and import tax on electric vehicles until the end of 2025, providing a total incentive of up to 7,400 USD (equivalent to 174 million VND) for
Meanwhile, in the US, VinFast enjoys a credit incentive of 7,500 USD (equivalent to 186 million VND) for each electric vehicle sold, even though it is not produced directly in the US.
Experts say that the government’s preferential policies are an important factor to help electric vehicles compete with vehicles using internal combustion engines.
In addition, in the case of VinFast electric cars in Indonesia, the cheaper listed price also comes from the company making some small adjustments to the appearance and cutting down some features such as switching seats from leather to leather.
