Maintaining impressive sales, Hyundai Accent became the most popular B-class sedan in the first quarter of 2023.
According to the latest report from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), TC Motor and VinFast, in the first quarter of 2023 the entire market sold a total of 86,817 cars of all types.
In particular, the Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, Ford and Mitsubishi brands contribute largely to sales with a total number of cars sold of 52,650 units (accounting for nearly 61% of the entire market).

The B-class sedan segment in Vietnam is actually always a `hot` segment, capturing a lot of consumer attention.
In March, this segment had sales of 4,436 vehicles (accounting for nearly 15% of total March sales), a slight increase compared to the number of 4,225 vehicles achieved in February.
Hyundai Accent’s car sales decreased slightly by 13.4% last month, down to 1,355 cars.
However, this achievement is still enough for Hyundai Accent to maintain its `unique` position in the affordable sedan segment in Vietnam in March and the first three months of the year.
Honda City is a car model that also suffered a decline in sales when consumption only reached 814 cars (down 7.9% compared to the previous month) in March.
However, this is still Honda’s best-selling car model in the Vietnamese market, accounting for 54.7% of total Honda sales.
After witnessing a surprising decline in January, sales of Toyota Vios have grown again in the last two months.
In March, Toyota Vios sales reached 1,050 vehicles, helping this model surpass Honda City, rising to second place in the list of best-selling B-class sedans in March.
However, if looking at the whole quarter’s data, accumulated sales from the beginning of the year of Toyota Vios (2,195 vehicles) are still only third behind Honda City (2,451 vehicles) and far behind Hyundai Accent (3,943 vehicles).

At the bottom of the ranking, Suzuki Ciaz – a name often on the list of slow-selling cars – officially became the `slothiest` car model in the Vietnamese market in the first quarter.

Currently, even though it is a popular segment, many popular sedan models still have attractive incentive programs.
Typically, Hyundai Accent is receiving a maximum 50% discount on registration fees for car models produced in 2023, while Toyota Vios is not far behind with a similar reduction program (applicable to versions E and G).
Meanwhile, although Honda City does not have registration fee incentives, dealers still propose a cash discount, up to a maximum of 70 million VND.
